There were a few thunderstorms over the last couple of days. At various moments, the wind howled as rain pelted against the window. The heat has temporarily given way to cooler temperatures, and the gloomy atmosphere has inspired me to curl up with a good book a time or two.

Darkfever is the first book in Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. Bloodfever, book two in the series, is also out. Mac’s sense of humor, courage, and intelligence are just three of the many qualities that make her a terrific heroine. I LOVED this book and eagerly look forward to reading further tales of Mac’s adventures.

The annual ritual of installing the air conditioner happens this weekend. Gone is the refreshing weather of spring, and in its place is the humid, sometimes stifling, heat of summer. There’s no way to overstate the relief a cool oasis provides.  I *heart* my air conditioner.
