The Tony Awards

June 13, 2010

I’m looking forward to the Tonys on CBS tonight. :snoopy: I love watching the performances from the nominated musicals and plays. And, of course, the acceptance speeches are always a blast, especially when the person is surprised that they won.

Fascinating

March 24, 2010

Have you watched the new TV show Who Do You Think You Are? It plays Fridays at 8:00 on NBC. Each week it follows a celebrity as they research their family tree. The 3 episodes that have played so far have all been spellbinding, and even though it’s only been on a short time, it’s already one of my favorite shows. :cheer:

Golden

March 1, 2010

Canada had a fantastic Olympics in so many ways. We finished third in the overall medal standings with 26, making it our best ever showing at the Winter Olympics. We also won the gold medal race with 14. That is the most by any nation, in a single games, in Winter Olympics history. It also means Canada set a new record for the most gold medals won by a host nation at the Winter Games.

Big kudos to all of the Canadian athletes! :bravo:

And congratulations to the US for their amazing accomplishments at these games. They won the overall medal standings with 37, the most won by any country in Winter Olympics history.

Olympic Fever

February 19, 2010

To say I’ve enjoyed the first seven days of the Vancouver Olympics would be an understatement. Canada has won seven medals so far: three gold, three silver, and one bronze.  The next ten days of competition look like they might be even more exciting, which is awesome.

Yup. I’ve got me a serious case of Olympic fever. :clapping:

Let The Games Begin

February 12, 2010

The opening ceremony for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games is tonight. The last time they were held here in Canada was Calgary in 1988. It was so exciting when Vancouver was announced as the 2010 host city, and the anticipation has been building ever since. It’s been heartening to watch the enthusiasm as the torch relay has passed through big cities and small towns all across Canada. The Olympics are always appointment television for me, so I’m doing an extra festive happy dance this morning.

It’s A Wonderful Life

December 8, 2009

CTV is airing It’s A Wonderful Life this Saturday.  Since I look forward to watching this movie every holiday season, I was thrilled when I saw it on the schedule. Even though there have been some great Christmas movies over the years, this one is my absolute favorite. I don’t often tear up when watching movies, but It’s A Wonderful Life gets me every time.

What’s your favorite Christmas movie? :lights:

Fog

November 24, 2009

It was a surreal experience when I took the woofie for a walk last night. There was a thick fog with mist-like tendrils curling out in all directions. The street lamps seemed to emphasize the hazy atmosphere and there was a distinctly paranormal vibe in the air. The ethereal beauty of it was compelling, emitting a certain timelessness. I imagined that if I stepped through the thickest part of the fog I would come out in a different time period on the other side, either that or some magical creature or being might emerge from it. The cold, dreamlike quality reminded me of stories where the veil between worlds is at its thinnest and all manner of things become possible.

On an unrelated note, I’m looking forward to the finale results show for Dancing With the Stars tonight. I loved Donny and Kym’s freestyle dance last night.

‘Tis the Time of the Season for…TV

October 6, 2009

I’m so happy it’s fall for many reasons. :autumn: I *heart* the cooler weather, of course, but it’s also a time when there’s a smorgasbord of television shows. I’m enjoying the new seasons of perennial favorites like Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Dancing With the Stars, The Amazing Race, Ghost Whisperer, and The Mentalist. The Good Wife, Glee, and Eastwick are three new series I also make it a point to watch.

What TV shows, new or returning, do you enjoy?

Emmys & the New Fall Season

September 18, 2009

The Emmys are this Sunday night! Neil Patrick Harris is hosting, which I think is awesome since he did a fantastic job hosting the Tonys. To add even more television goodness on top of that, a slew of season and series premieres are debuting next week.

Have a great weekend, everyone. :happydance:

Season Finales

May 13, 2009

The season finales for American Idol and Dancing With the Stars are next week and I’m looking forward to watching them. Grey’s Anatomy has a two hour season finale on Thursday and it looks like it’s going to be awesome. The last two episodes of Grey’s have been unbelievably good.

What season finales are you psyched to watch?
